“The most important thing for me is to talk, demonstrate and teach the things that are useful in actual practice. The most efficient way is to approach this in terms of general principles.
People seem to think that I am generating clinical practice from the classics. This seems to be true, but it is not what I am setting out to do. Rather, I am freely expressing myself in my clinical practice. As part of my freedom and indeed essential to it, is awareness. This awareness leads me to understand that it is not necessary to reinvent the wheel.
The “wheels” of Oriental medicine are to be found in the classics. They are the general principles and, using them, the vehicle that we have to explore Oriental medicine. This was given to me by my teacher Masakazu Ikeda sensei. I would like to be able to pass this freedom on to you.”

What to Expect
Edward Sensei will guide attendees to gain greater understanding of their practice of acupuncture and moxibustion. In this seminar, you can expect to learn about the skilful use of both fine needles and Chinese needles as exemplified in the Nei Jing. This approach to acupuncture is based on the Nei Jing, the Nan Jing (難経) and also the Shang Han Lun classical texts. Edward Sensei will also cover effective point selection, needling techniques and the application of acupuncture and moxibustion. There will be opportunities to observe treatments and to practice techniques.
Edward Sensei will be discussing and demonstrating how to build true understanding through the use of the general principles expounded in the classical texts. With this grounding in the fundamentals, you will gain freedom to creatively select your own approach to best deal with the circumstance of the patient before you.
It is Edward Sensei’s goal that no attendee leaves the seminar without gaining a more solid foundation in classical theory and practical competence.
