WEEKEND 1

MIZUTANI STYLE BAMBOO MOXA

Date to be announced

"I believe that the success of all treatment methods rests on whether “the patient feels comfortable.” Unless the moxibustion treatment is comfortable, the maximum effect cannot be drawn out, so my belief is that strong treatments that distress the patient are no good."

Junji Sensei developed his own bamboo tube modelled on Fukaya sensei's tube in order to further reduce the heat sensation for Westerners receiving his unique Autonomic Nevervous System Balancing Treatment. From around 1992, he began progressively shortening the bamboo tube for very sensitive patients. He first reduced the open space at the bottom end of the tube and then gradually increased this space before settling on his revised model. Both ends of his standard bamboo tube can be used, but the shorter end holds less air so the moxa goes out sooner and the heat sensation is milder compared to the longer end, which is a bit warmer.

WEEKEND 2

FUKAYAKYU-HO

Date to be announced

Fukaya Style Bamboo Moxibustion (Fukayakyu-ho) is a very particular style of bamboo moxa which enjoys great recognition worldwide. Fukaya said that “Moxibustion doesn’t work, you make it work. Use special points to draw out the effect.”

Fukaya sensei developed his bamboo tool to reduce the perception of heat during treatment. He devised two – a shorter hollow type for light pressure used on the arms and legs, and a longer type for strong pressure which is closed at one end. It is used for the shoulders and back. Moxa cone sizes are very specific with this style and correct timing is esssential to the succesful application of the bamboo tube. Felip is the only Westerner authorised to teach Fukayakyu-ho in the world by Shinma sensei (son of Fukaya sensei)

WEEKEND 3

ONTAKE WARM BAMBOO

Date to be announced

This innovative technique uses a piece of bamboo filled with moxa wool to roll, tapped and pressed on the acupuncture meridians using a metronome programmed to each meridian’s frequency (based on research by world renowned Japanese teacher Dr Yoshio Manaka).

The rhythmic application of heat, frequency and pressure triggers rapid shifts in your patients’ body condition and mood. The method can be integrated into any meridian based practice, whatever your style of acupuncture or bodywork may be.
